MARINE LAW ENFORCEMENT
MARINE LAW ENFORCEMENT

Levee District Police have responsibility under state law to provide law enforcement on the surrounding waters of the districts. They are responsible for maintaining order and exercising general police powers by intervening independently, when necessary, to restore order, protect life and property and prevent crime. Normal marine law enforcement is accomplished by patrol vessels equipped for marine law enforcement activities and vehicle patrol of shoreline and marina areas that are accessible. Officers provide marine law enforcement patrol to insure compliance with safety regulations. Daily activities range from criminal patrol to water rescue and other search and rescue activities. Officers receive training in crash/fire/rescue.
