The training program is continuous. The standard of professionalism and preparedness offered by the LDP training program is established by the Peace Officers Standard Training Council. Most officers are certified in: · Standardized Field Sobriety Testing · Chemical Testing for Intoxication · DWI Detection · Tactical Police Driving · Basic Defensive Tactics and Collapsible Baton Techniques · Peace Officers Standard Training Areas of Training Covered in the Academy: Hazardous materials, stress management, firearms, field survival, first aid, juvenile matters, rape investigation, accident investigation, crime scene investigation, basic fire fighting, arson investigation, narcotics, patrol, policy and procedure, Title 14 (criminal law), Title 32 (highway law), Title 40 (narcotics and illegal weapons) FBI: civil rights, search and seizure, sex crimes, interview and interrogation, hostage negotiations and homicide investigations.
